Sometimes meeting new people can be difficult when you move to a new place.
Hursley Village Community Association are holding their annual Newcomers Lunch on 23rd November at 12.30 pm for 1 pm in the Village Hall. The aim of the lunch is to provide the opportunity for neighbours to become friends and for others to catch up with old friends.
Newcomers to the village and their families can join us free of charge and the cost for everyone else is £5 per person. This cost includes a glass of wine or soft drink, a simple home-cooked two course lunch and coffee. To book your place, email: and include your name and the number in your party, plus any specific dietary requirements. Please send your request by 5th November.

This year there will be a Bring and Share Harvest Supper on Sunday 6th October following the Harvest Songs of Praise service. The service will be held in St. Matthew’s Church, Otterbourne at 6 pm and the supper will begin around 7 pm in Otterbourne Village Hall. If you would like to come along, there are sign up sheets in each church for you to indicate which food item you will be bringing. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring your own wine or soft drinks.

This Saturday 7th September, all the benefice churchwardens are walking from St. Matthew’s, Otterbourne via All Saints’, Hursley and All Saints’, Compton, and back to St. Matthew’s, Otterbourne. A total of 14 kilometres. The walkers will leave St. Matthew’s at 9 am and envisage being back at St, Matthew’s by 2 pm. There will be light refreshments and comfort breaks at each church. Anyone who would like to join and support the churchwardens for all or part of the walk will be most welcome. Dogs and children can come along too!
As this walk aims to raise money for each church, please consider sponsoring your parish churchwardens or donate any money raised by joining the walk to your parish church. All proceeds will benefit your own parish.
This will be a time of fellowship and fun so put the date in your diary and come along for all or any part of the morning.
We return following the summer break on Wednesday 4th September at 8 p.m. in Compton All Saints’ Primary School. We will continue to look at Mark’s gospel.
The Rector invites everyone to a presentation of his study leave experiences over coffee and croissants/bacon roll. The service will be held in All Saints’ Church, Hursley on Sunday 29th September at 10 a.m. If you require transport from Compton Church, lifts will be given at 9.30 a.m. A list will be lfet in All Saints’, Compton for those in need of a lift.

This year, the Christmas Fair will be held in Otterbourne Village Hall and we will be raising funds for St.Matthew’s Church. There will be a variety of stalls, refreshments, light lunches and much more.
Further details will follow soon. However, we are hoping to attract a wide variety of stallholders including ‘Nearly New’ stalls and so, if you would be interested in having a stall at this event and would definitely like to book a space, a booking form will need to be completed by the end of October. The booking form will appear here soon. Stalls cost £10 each although stalls can be booked for free if you are willing to donate the proceeds to St. Matthew’s Church.
