The next meeting will be held at Compton C of E Primary School, Compton Street on Wednesday 4th July at 8 p.m.

We will be looking at a couple of well-known parables and finding not such well known explanations as to what they might mean

Professor Alister McGrath – On the Trinity

Listen to the renowned theologian, Alister McGrath, as he develops approaches to help Christians grasp the doctrine of the Trinity, which at times can be baffling.

The first of five talks by Alister is being delivered on Tuesday 26th June at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event are now sold out. However,  live streaming of the lecture can be viewed below:

The second and third talks will be held on 2 October and 15 October.  Tickets can be purchased from the Cathedral Box Office or visit the Winchester Cathedral website for further details.

Otterbourne Jalopies and Fete

The Jalopy Parade will leave Otterbourne Village Hall car park at 1.30 p.m on Sunday 24th June, process down the main (closed) road, into Oakwood Avenue and arrive at the Recreation Ground from 2 p.m onwards. See the separate page on the website for further details.

Come along and join the fun.  All funds raised will go to St. Matthew’s Church, Otterbourne.

Good Book Group

This month we will meet on Wednesday 6th June at 8 p.m.and will be looking at the First book of Samuel, Chapters 16 to the end. This continues the exciting story of the decline of Saul and the rise of David. We will ponder what was so special about David.


As usual, we will meet in Compton C of E Primary School Hall in Compton Street

Hursley Fete


This year’s fete will be held on Saturday 23 June from 11.30 a.m until 3.00 p.m at John Keble School,Hursley.  The theme will be ‘ Beside the Seaside’, so expect deck-chairs and donkey rides!    Entrance £1

Bags 2 School

The next Bags 2 School event will take place on Friday 11th May at Compton Primary School..

This charitable scheme works with schools to raise money from textile donations, which get sold to countries, mainly in Eastern Europe and Africa, for recycling.  If you have any clothing, towels, curtains, bed sheets, shoes, cuddly toys, handbags or jewellery that you would like to donate please leave your items outside the main school gate at Compton Primary School from 8 a.m. on the day or leave them in All Saints’ Church, Compton next week. We are unable to accept duvets, books, pillows or cushions, bathmats, industrial garments or wet/damp clothing.

Donations should be placed in a watertight bag, such as a bin liner, and labelled ‘Bags 2 School’.

All monies raised will be shared between All Saints Church, Compton and Compton Primary School.

On Pentecost Sunday, 20th May, at 4 p.m. ‘Messy Church’ is coming to St. Matthew’s Church, Otterbourne.
